Order of Lenin #282954

Made of solid gold, platinum and enamels. Measures 44.69 mm in height, 38.40 mm in width and weighs 33.3 grams without its suspension. The stamped serial number and raised mint mark are located at the center of its reverse.

In superb condition with beautiful enamels and some minor contact marks only. All details are crisp and even the raised areas of Lenin’s bust show light wear only. There have been no repairs and its connection ring has not been cut. The reverse is in pristine condition as well and the double layer steel suspension and ribbon are time period to the award.

 

Order of the Red Banner #959 Duplicate

Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 46.49 mm in height, 37.52 mm in width and weighs 27.9 grams without its suspension. The serial number was engraved in a distinctive, familiar style over the original one, which had been removed by the Soviet mint.

In great, above average condition. The details of the center wreath and torch are well defined and the red and white enamels are fully present without repairs or flaking. Its reverse is in nice condition as well and shows a medium patina to the silver. The connection ring has not been cut and the double sided steel suspension is time period to the award.

Duplicate awards were rarely issued and only in exceptional cases where the original was lost due to circumstances beyond the recipient’s control, such as combat or natural disasters. 

 

Order of the Red Banner ‘2’ #42 Duplicate

Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 45.05 mm in height, 37.07 mm in width and weighs 25.3 grams without its suspension. The serial number was engraved in a distinctive, familiar style on a blank award.

In nice, above average condition. Its details are crisp and the red and white enamels are generally well preserved without repairs but show loss or on the 9 o’clock ray of the center star. Much of the original gold plating is still present and the reverse is in equally nice condition. Its connection ring has not been cut and the double sided steel suspension is time period to the award.

 

Order of the Red Banner ‘3’ #5473

Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 45.99 mm in height, 37.20 mm in width and weighs 24.7 grams without its suspension.

In near mint condition with crisp details and full gold plating. The red and white enamels are flawless without any . Its original gold plating is fully present and the reverse is in equally nice condition as its obverse with virtually no dings or scratches. The connection ring has not been cut and the double sided steel suspension is time period to the award.

 

Order of the Patriotic War 1st class #4400

Made of solid gold, silver and enamels. The order weighs 32.4 gram without its screwplate and measures 43.15 mm in width and 44.51 mm in height.

In excellent, though converted, condition. This scarce early variant was originally fitted with a stickpin suspension and was reworked into a screwback by the recipient following the 1943 regulations on wearing Soviet awards. Original suspension components were reused, including the main piece, screwplate, and full-length screw. Despite the modifications, the enamel remains immaculate with no chips or scratches, and the hammer and sickle edges are still sharp.

 

Order of the Patriotic War 1st class #83656

Made of solid gold, silver and enamels. Measures 45.95 mm in height, 44.34 mm in width and weighs 32.1 grams without its screwplate. The mint mark Monetni Dvor in one line is located at the bottom of its reverse as is its serial number.

This order is also in exquisite condition, with a nice patina to the silver and gold parts. The details remain sharp and well-defined, with minimal wear even on raised elements. The red and white enamels are vibrant and intact, showing no repairs or flaking. The screw post remains full length, and the silver screwplate fits perfectly and is period-correct.

 

Order of the Patriotic War 1st class #182062

Made of solid gold, silver and enamels. Measures 45.84 mm in height, 44.49 mm in width and weighs 31.1 grams without its screwplate. The mint mark Monetni Dvor in one line is located at the bottom of its reverse as is its serial number.

In similar condition to the previous Order of the Patriotic War with crisp details and flawless enamels. Its screw has not been shortened and the order comes with its correct and well-fitted nut.

 

Order of the Red Star #1433 Duplicate

Made of solid silver and enamels. It measures 47.41 mm in height, 49.19 in width and weighs 28.7 grams without its screwplate. The serial number was engraved in a distinctive, familiar style on a blank award.

In good overall condition but with enamel damage on the 3 o’clock ray. This occurred long ago, as seen in one of Glazyev’s photos. Otherwise, the enamel is well preserved, and the raised areas of the center medallion show light to moderate wear. The order includes its well-fitted silver screwplate, and the screw remains full length.

 

Order of the Red Star #948840

Made of solid silver and enamels. It measures 48.21 mm in height, 49.43 in width and weighs 29.8 grams without its screwplate.

In excellent, problem free condition with light to medium wear to the center medallion and well preserved enamels with a few contact marks only. Its screw has not been shortened and the order comes with its time period screwplate.

 

Medal for the 20th Anniversary of the RKKA with booklet

Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 32.20 mm in diameter, 35.70 mm in height including the eyelet and it weighs 24.1 grams without its suspension.

In excellent, well above average condition with its details crisp. Even the fine details of the grass the soldier is standing on, are clearly visible. The vibrant red enamels show no repairs or flaking and the XX’s still show a fair amount of gold plating which is not often see.

Its accompanying booklet in excellent condition with all pages are present and firmly attached to the cover. The booklet is dated 8 December 1948 and numbered 025440.

A rare and complete grouping with awards for the Spanish Civil War!

 

 


His first two Red Banners were awarded for his actions as a T-26 tank commander during the Spanish Civil War. Several documents detail his accomplishments, and an excerpt is provided below: 

Key documented accomplishments:

  • Majadahonda attack (11 Jan 1937) – Glaziev led a three-tank group from inside his tank, destroyed enemy machine-gun positions, broke through barricades, captured 4 machine guns with 6000 rounds, and advanced despite anti-tank fire. He personally ordered the tank column to turn 180 degrees under fire and resume the assault.

  • Jarama sector (February–April 1937)

    • His tanks repeatedly held the line when infantry broke, stopping enemy offensives.

    • Destroyed multiple anti-tank guns, dozens of machine-guns, and killed hundreds of enemy troops across repeated engagements.

    • Recaptured lost trenches and stabilized collapsing sectors, often with only tanks fighting.

    • Oversaw evacuation and recovery of several knocked-out tanks under fire.

  • Guadalajara operations (March 1937)

    • Participated in large-scale counterattacks involving up to 50 tanks.

    • His units destroyed enemy battalions, tractors, multiple MG and artillery positions, and captured 7 enemy vehicles intact without tank losses.

    • Led several smaller attacks eliminating 200+ hostile troops at a time.

  • Madrid / Casa de Campo (April 1937)

    • Opposed an order to use tanks as manned explosives; prevented execution of crews.

    • Then led a flanking tank attack during the assault on the University City area.

    • Lost one tank in the operation while attempting to rescue others.

  • General evaluation

    • Commissar reports note that Glaziev believed “the best tank crew is the one that fires most of all,” referencing his aggressive style in combat and his constant presence in the lead tanks.

    • He was criticized for harshness, but consistently recognized for strong combat effectiveness and initiative.

Citation for the Order of the Patriotic War 1st class #4400:

As the commander of armoured troops of 65 army, comrade GLAZIEV efficiently commanded tank units in the offensive against the Stalingrad enemy troops formation during October – November 1942. He performed successfully all his assignments assisting in seizure of many settlements.

Disregarding personal safety and exhibiting courage and bravery, comrade GLAZIEV conducted many time surveillance of the forward line, and was present on the battlefield during operations.

In December 1942, comrade GLAZIEV was assigned to the position the head of the Automobile Directorate of 65 Army. He energetically engaged his new duties, quickly organised and built up his new organisation. He efficiently realised all the tasks described in the order ¹15 on 10.01.1943 by Peoples Commissariat of Defence aimed at utilisation, distribution, and accounting of vehicle transport.

During the period of defeat of the enemy Stalingrad pocket, GLAZIEV’s team collected and saved for further use 600 intact war trophy vehicles.

In February – March 1943, the 65th Army was reinforced with new units, which vehicle pool accounting and technical service was in chaotic state (technical readiness was barely at 60%).

Absence of proper technical facilities and spare parts was aggravating the situation (all the filed mobile repair workshops and spare part depots were lagging behind near Stalingrad). But comrade GLAZIEV actively addressed the situation and promptly conducted technical certification of the transport pool, efficient reassignment, and excellently organised repair facilities. He arranged for mobile repair workshops, collection and utilisation for captured spare parts and damaged vehicles, as well as used efficient decentralised purchasing scheme for acquiring deficit spare parts for 200.000 roubles.

In total, there were collected 80 engines, 90 gear boxes, and other valuable spare parts. Thanks to this effort, the April plan for vehicle prepares issued by the Front Military Council was fulfilled for 320%, and the May plan results were at 184% as of 18 May 1943. This effort increased the technical readiness of the army vehicle pool by 9%. Comrade GLAZIEV fully deserves order “PATRIOTIC WAR I CLASS”.

Citation for the Order of the Patriotic War 1st class #83656:

Comrade GLAZIEV has been working as the head of Operations and Transportation section of the Automobile Directorate of the front. He dedicated a lot of effort to organisation of vehicle transport and technical service of the front vehicle pool.

He is a combat hardened, energetic, and tactically educated officer. He is well proficient in the vehicle pool operation and technical vehicle service organisation. During the period of offensive operations of our front, comrade GLAZIEV’s diligent effort and dedication ensured uninterrupted flow of supplies of ammunition, food, and troops transport.

In July 1944, the revision conducted but the Main Automobile Directorate office of the Red Army highlighted, that the transport pool technical service and vehicle transport in the front sector are properly organised, and that the transport pool fulfills properly its tasks.

Citation for the Order of the Patriotic War 1st class #182062: 

During his service as the deputy to the head of Automobile Directorate, he proved himself as devoted to the cause of the LENIN – STALIN party and the Socialist Motherland.

During the period of preparation for offensive operations, comrade GLAZIEV organised a number of initiatives regarding refitting automobile park of the front units. During October – November 1944, collaborative team trainings were arranged for commanders of vehicle transport regiments, for regiment technical service deputies, for battalion commanders, for division and corps vehicle transport department heads. These collaborative team trainings were dedicated to the technical topics of vehicle operations.

Comrade GLAZIEV managed to organise well and efficiently the functions of the Operations and Transportation department. He inspired his subordinates to strive for achievement of the given objectives, such that the tasks were fulfilled in proper time and in organised manner. During the period of the offensive operations, the whole front and army level vehicle transportation park operated with 0,95 utilisation coefficient. Colonel GLAZIEV efficiently and skilfully organised the work of the vehicle transportation units responsible for resupply of both combat critical materiel and other goods.

During the period of December 1944 – 24 February 1945, there were transported 618788 tons of different loads and 154870 troops. All the transportation objectives were accomplished in due time without exceptions.

On top of that, comrade GLAZIEV was given special transportation assignments, which all were accomplished in due time.

For efficient and proper organisation and management of transportation operations in the interest of the front and for selfless dedicated work in executing most important assignment of the Command, he deserves state award order “RED BANNER”.

For the tank company commander of the 2nd tank battalion, 4 mechanised brigade – Lieutenant GLAZIEV Ilya Grigorieveich, who is being recommended for order “RED STAR”.

He is the Communist party member. His tank company is the best in all the respects among all the companies participating in the “Stakhanov movement”. He excellently organised training process in his tank company. He keeps the quartermaster service, military materiel, and the armament systems in excellent condition in his company. As a tank platoon commander in the past, he was very efficient in training new cadets. He is greatly respected among the troops.
