He was a Russian. He completed three years of a local parish school (1917), a regional school for tractor mechanics (1930), and two courses at a college of agricultural mechanization (1931). Member of the Communist Party since 1928 (party ID No. 12098608, 03428510). He died on 12 June 1966. EDUCATION. Graduated from the Oryol Armoured Technical School (1932), and from the Leningrad Armoured Technical Courses for Command Personnel (1939). MILITARY SERVICE. Drafted into the Red Army on 5 November 1927 by the Berezovsky District Military Commissariat of Voronezh Region. From 1 June 1931 drafted again under the Party recruitment program. PARTICIPATION IN WARS AND MILITARY CONFLICTS. Spanish Civil War. Great Patriotic War (from June 1941). Wounded four times (in 1941 wounded in the leg and arm). Seriously wounded on 1 October 1941. SERVICE IN THE RED ARMY. From 5 November 1927 – cadet of the regimental school of the 55th Rifle Regiment of the 19th Rifle Division. From 15 October 1928 – section commander of the 55th Rifle Regiment of the 19th Rifle Division. On 16 September 1929 discharged to the reserve. From 1 June 1931 to 1 July 1932 – cadet of the Oryol Armoured School. From 1 July 1932 – platoon commander of the 4th Mechanized Brigade (Belorussian Military District). From 7 March 1933 – chief of the battalion park of the 4th Mechanized Brigade. By order of the People’s Commissariat of Defence (NKO) No. 0016 of 17 February 1935, appointed commander of the training platoon of the 4th Mechanized Brigade. Participant of the Civil War in Spain. According to the suppositions of Lieutenant General VETROV Aleksandr Aleksandrovich, GLAZYEV Ilya Dmitrievich fought in the brigade of PAVLOV Grigory Dmitrievich. This brigade had three battalions: the 1st was commanded by PETROV, the 2nd by MEDIONOV, and the 3rd by GLAZYEV I.D. This brigade fought on the Jarama, at Brunete (near Madrid), and at Majadahonda. By NKO order No. 03101 of 16 August 1937 appointed commander of the training battalion of the 9th Mechanized Brigade (Leningrad Military District). By NKO Order No. 03792 of 19 August 1940 appointed deputy commander of the 5th Tank Regiment of the 3rd Tank Division. By NKO Order No. 0040 of 25 March 1941 appointed commander of the 41st Tank Regiment of the 21st Tank Division. He met the beginning of the Great Patriotic War in this position. From 30 September 1941 – deputy commander of the 42nd Tank Brigade. From 19 November 1941 – undergoing treatment in Field Mobile Hospital No. 2254 after a severe wound. From 28 February 1942 – deputy commander of the 6th Army for combat use of tanks. From 3 July 1942 – deputy commander of the 28th Army for combat use of tanks. From 28 July 1942 – deputy chief of the Armoured and Motorized Troops Directorate for combat employment of tank troops of the 4th Tank Army. From 17 December 1942 – chief of the motor transport department of the 65th Army. From 13 December 1943 – detached to the disposal of the commander of Armoured and Motorized Troops of the 1st Belorussian Front. From 29 April 1944 – chief of the 2nd Department (operations and motor transport) of the Motor Transport Directorate of the 1st Belorussian Front. From 23 November 1944 – deputy chief of the Motor Transport Directorate of the 1st Belorussian Front. From 1 July 1945 – deputy chief of the Motor Transport Directorate of the Group of Soviet Occupation Forces in Germany. From 14 December 1946 – commander of the 56th Separate Motor Transport Regiment (GSOFG). By order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) No. 059 of 14 January 1949 appointed chief of the Motor Transport Directorate of the GSOFG. By order of the Ministry of the Armed Forces (VM) No. 0664 of 18 April 1950 appointed chief of the Motor Transport Directorate of the Kiev Military District. From 26 June 1953 – chief of the Motor-Tractor Department, simultaneously chief of the Motor-Tractor Service of the Kiev Military District. By order of the Ministry of Defence No. 0136 of 5 June 1957, retired under Article 60b (for health reasons) with the right to wear military uniform. Lived in Kiev. ---
