At the same time, he proved himself to be a courageous, resourceful and proactive commander. He led the flight in difficult weather conditions, hit targets perfectly, and did not allow a single case of failure to complete a task or loss of orientation. Participant in combat missions to Sallus, Fischhausen, Pillau, Rosenberg, Danzig, Fürstenwalde, Berlin, So Lun and Tsein-Yinyaou. During the raid on the port of Pillau he led the flight to the target perfectly in difficult weather conditions. He carried out bombing and returned to his airfield. As a result of the bombing, 2 transport ships were sunk and 2 fires were noted in the port. The results were recorded in photographs and confirmed by the command of the ground forces.

The raid in which comrade KOSENKO participated at the Jin-Yinyaou station was carried out in a directionless area and in difficult weather conditions the group was forced to bypass a thunderstorm front. Despite this, the group accurately reached the target and successfully hit it. As a result, a direct hit was noted on a railway train which exploded and destroyed station buildings. The results are confirmed by photographic diagrams.
