Order of the Red Banner #531182

Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 45.30 mm in height including its eyelet, 36.13 mm in width and weighs 23.9 grams without its suspension. The serial number and the mint mark Monetni Dvor are located at the 6 o’clock position of its reverse.

In nice overall condition with crisp details and a fair amount of gold plating still present. The red and white enamels are generally well preserved apart from a chip on the top of the red banner right underneath its eyelet. Its reverse shows some dings and scratches and a medium patina to the silver. Its connection ring has been cut and the order comes with its time period double layer aluminium suspension and old ribbon.

The Order of the Red Banner recognized military deeds. Before the establishment of the Order of Lenin, the order functioned as the highest (and practically the only) military order of the USSR. Practically all well-known Soviet commanders became Cavaliers of this Order. Also awarded to NKVD personnel.
