Order of the Red Banner #247228

 

Awarded to Fighter Pilot Nikolay Alekseevich Purisov (Николай Алексеевич Пурисов)

 

For flying 94 combat sorties from July 1944 to May 1945. He conducted eight air battles, personally shot down two enemy aircraft -including an Me-109- and reliably covered his leader in combat, enabling the downing of two more enemy aircraft

 

 

Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 44.95 mm in height, 36.87 mm in width and it weighs 25.0 grams without its suspension. The serial number and mint mark are located at the 6 o’clock position of its reverse.

 

In excellent, above average condition with light wear to the raised details such as the central wreath and torch. The red and white enamels remain well preserved and show a couple of minor superficial chips only, barely noticeable with the naked eye. Both sides display medium silver toning, while a decent amount of the original gold plating on the reverse is still present. The suspension ring is cut, and the order comes with its time period double layer suspension and old ribbon.

 

Brief, concrete description of his feat of arms or achievements:

From 14.07.1944 to 19.02.1945, he made 16 combat sorties, conducted 2 air battles, shot down 1 enemy aircraft, for which he was awarded the Order of the “RED STAR”

From 19.02.1945 to 10.05.1945, he made 78 combat sorties, of which: 8 were free hunting, 11 were reconnaissance of enemy troops, 4 were attacking enemy troops, and 55 were providing cover. He conducted 6 air battles, in which he shot down one ME-109, the confirmation is kept in the headquarters of the 256th Fighter Aviation Kyiv Red Banner Order of Bohdan Khmelnitsky Division.

He holds his own in air battles, and has proven himself to be a brave and courageous pilot, honestly and conscientiously carrying out combat missions. Flying as a wingman, he reliably covered his leader, who shot down 2 enemy aircraft under his cover.

He was not captured or surrounded.

CONCLUSION: For the successful completion of 78 combat sorties and the shooting down of 1 enemy ME-109 aircraft, he the is worthy of being awarded the Order of the „RED BANNER“.
