Researched Soviet Order of the Red Banner #243174

Awarded to Scout Pavel Grigoryevich Nazaikin (Павел Григорьевич Назайкин)

For single-handedly taking out 7 Germans and taking a prisoner!

Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 45.75 mm in height, 37.52 mm in width and it weighs 25.4 gram. The serial number and curved mint mark are located at the 6 o’clock position of its reverse.

This Order of the Red Banner is in excellent condition. The details are crisp and the enamel is problem free apart from some minor superficial flaking around some of the edges. Much of the gold plating is present and the connection ring has not been cut.

Interesting to see is that this piece managed to get through the tight control checks despite it having quite obvious errors. This rarely happened with Soviet awards. In the picture gallery you will be able to see this in bright green.

Brief, concrete description of his feat of arms or achievements:

“In offensive battles on 06/23/44, acting skillfully and decisively with a group of scouts, he at first burst into the outskirts of Shumilino and in the trench battle killed 4 Germans by fire from his machine pistol and captured one in the area of the town of Shumilino and the village of Sirotyno, Vitebsk region. On 24/06/44, under the heavy fire of the enemy, on improvised means performing the task of command, with a group of fighters quickly forced the Western Duna River and to fight and possess the bridgehead for the further advance of the advancing units of the regiment. When cleansing the left bank of the river, comrade Nazaykin killed three Germans.”
