Awarded to Sr. Sergeant Ivan Petrovich Fedorenko (Иван Петрович Федоренко)
For destroying a German pillbox at close range on March 18, 1945 near Preußisch Trawen, killing 4 and forcing 8 to surrender, and for eliminating an enemy heavy machine gun on March 19, 1945 that hindered the advance of Soviet troops
Made of solid silver, gold and enamels. The order weighs 26.8 gram without its screwplate and measures 44.60 mm in width and 46.20 mm in height.
In good overall condition with all details crisp. The enamels are mostly present and without repairs and show some superficial flakes and scratches. Both sides show a medium patina to the silver and the order comes with its original, time period and well fitted screwplate. Its screw has not been shortened.
Brief description of his feat of arms or achievements:
FEDORENKO Ivan Petrovich – guard’s senior sergeant, commander of cannon of 2nd battery of 58 guard’s artillery Sevastopol regiment of 32 guard’s rifle Taman Red Banner order of Suvorov 2nd Class division.
On March 18, 1945 in combats for settlement Preußisch Trawen /Easten Prussia/ (now Trawki, Poland) battery stayed on point blank fire and Fedorenko discovered gathering of Germans in pillbox on distance 100 meters. He quickly prepared cannon and opened fire on pillbox. As result pillbox was destroyted, killed 4 soldiers and 8 surrender.
On March 19, 1945 he discovered enemy’s heavy machine-gun preventing advancing of our troops and destroyed it.
