Made of solid silver, gold and enamels. The order weighs 28.4 grams without its screwplate and measures 44.89 mm in width and 46.87 mm in height. Its mint mark and serial number are located at the bottom of its reverse.
In overall excellent with crisp details and medium wear. The red and white enamels are generally well preserved without repairs and show a small puperficial chip on the 7 oçlock ray of the red star only. The order comes with a time period and well fitted screwplate and its screw has not been shortened.
Brief and specific description of the personal feat or merits:
Comrade Samokhvalov has been serving on the front lines of the Patriotic War in the USSR against German invaders since November 1943. Initially appointed as a Senior Radio Operator-Gunner, he took on the role of aerial gunner in the regiment.
In May 1944, Comrade Samokhvalov successfully conducted missions on the 1st Baltic Front. Displaying bravery and resolve, he ensured accurate and effective defense during missions. As of May 1944, he has been awarded the Medal “For Courage.”
Throughout his service, he has completed over 20 successful combat missions as part of an Il-2 group assault on enemy fortifications, achieving distinguished results.
His merits include exemplary performance in bombing and strafing raids on enemy positions, significantly contributing to the destruction of tanks, artillery, and personnel. His vigilance and courage under heavy anti-aircraft fire, while in proximity to hostile forces, demonstrate his commitment and valor.
For his active participation and 20 successful combat sorties, he is deemed worthy of the Order of the Patriotic War, 2nd Class.
