Awarded to Guards Captain Petr Ivanovich Goidenko (Федор Федорович Середа)

 

For consistently demonstrating bravery and resourcefulness since October 25, 1941. On March 29, 1944, he destroyed up to a platoon of enemy troops and two supply trucks with direct fire and on March 17, he personally  destroyed a German T-IV tank during a counterattack. His courage and determination also contributed to his battery shooting down 25 enemy aircraft

 

 

 

Made of solid silver, gold and enamels. The order weighs 27.0 grams without its screwplate and measures 44.96 mm in width and 47.07 mm in height. Its serial number and curved mint mark in two lines can be found on the bottom of its reverse. The minimal known serial number of this variation is 135146 and the maximum number is 169988.

 

In excellent, above-average condition with sharp details. The red and white enamels are well preserved without repairs but show a small surface chip on the rays at 9 and 12 o’clock. Both sides show a medium silver patina, and the order includes its original silver screwplate. The screw remains unshortened.

Guards Captain GOIDENKO Petr Ivanovich 1920.
Commander of 85mm anti-aircraft artillery battery, 31 separate Guards anti-aircraft artillery squadron of the Supreme Command Reserve.

He has been participating in combat against the German invaders since 25 October 1941. He proved himself as a brave and resourceful officer during these combat engagements.
On 29 March 1944, firing directly with open sights, he eliminated up to platoon of enemy troops and 2 loaded trucks near the village Iwankow, Skala district (L’vov region).
On 17 March 1944, defending against an enemy counter-attack near the village Molezanowka, Lyakhovetksy district, he stood himself at the gun as a gun layer and burned an enemy “T-IV” tank.
Thanks to his bravery and steadfastness, comrade GOIDENKO enabled his battery to shoot down 25 enemy aircrafts.
He deserves order “PATRIOTIC WAR II CLASS”.
