Note:

We believe there is an error in the unit listed in his documents, which is not unusual for postwar wound-related awards, as veterans were often asked to recall their unit numbers from memory. In fact, he was drafted in his home area in May 1942, likely not earlier due to his age, and assigned to the 1189th Rifle Regiment of the 358th Rifle Division.

This division continued fighting in the same area until October 1943, when he was wounded. As a result, he both fought and was wounded within approximately 20 km of his home.

We also found a brief mention of him in a local history source, which notes that Yakovlev P. D. fought in the 4th Shock Army and, from 1948 onward, served as chairman of the “Novaya Niva” kolkhoz.

This Order of Glory is private Yakovlev’s only numbered award so technically it can be considered to be a complete group
