Awarded to Major Sergej Pavlovich Pavlov (Сергей Павлович Павлов)
For clearing passages through friendly and enemy minefields, building 3 crossing sites far behind enemy lines and capturing and holding bridges near Königsberg
Major Pavlov was awarded 2 Orders of Nevsky which is quite exceptional and only happened about 500 times
Made of solid silver and enamels. It measures 51.52 mm in height, 49.93 mm in width and weighs 42.2 grams. The serial number and the mint mark Monetni Dvor are located at the 6 o’clock position underneath the screw.
This original order of Alexander Nevsky is in pristine condition with all details crisp and most gold plating present. Even the higher laying parts on the obverse show light wear only and the red enamel is flawless. The center medallion shows virtually no dings and scratches both sides have a light patina to the silver. The screw has not been shortened and there have been no repairs. The order comes with its time period and well fitted screwplate.
Beautiful piece with interesting research. Scarce as such
Brief, concrete description of his feat of arms or achievements:
“During the period of offensive operations, Major Pavlov’s battalion provided engineering support for the 2nd Tatsinskaya Tank Corps’s 25th Tank Brigade. Because he organized the duties of his battalion’s units in an efficient manner, the sappers handled of their assignments in an excellent manner.
Under difficult conditions caused by heavy enemy fire, the battalion not only cleared passages through friendly and enemy minefields under Major Pavlov’s direct supervision, but also built three crossing sites en route and far behind enemy lines. The battalion captured the bridges across the Pregel River near Simonen and the Auksinne River near Norkitten, where it removed and deactivated a number of makeshift explosives and held both bridges until the arrival of our army’s main force. This aided in the swiftest possible advance of our troops.
He deserves to be awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky.”
