Medal for Bravery #878547

Awarded to Private Ivan Samsonovich Yaremchuk (Семен Григорьевич Поваляев)

For distinguishing himself in combat against German and Romanian forces on 16–17 April 1944. He efficiently supplied and reloaded machine-gun magazines, ensuring uninterrupted fire against the enemy. During an enemy counterattack near Boanen, Romania, on 17 April 1944, he actively participated in the defense and, with rifle fire, personally killed 40 Romanian soldiers

Made of solid silver. Measures 37.5 mm in diameter and 42.7 mm in height (including the eyelet) and it weighs 25.7 grams without its suspension.

The medal is in above average condition considering it is a relatively early awarding. Most details still visible and both sides show an appealing patina to the silver. A fair amount of the original lacquer filling the letters is present although covered with some dirt. Its connection ring has not been cut and double layer steel suspension and old ribbon are time period to the medal.
