Description
Medal for Bravery #572950 ‘Duplicate’
Made of solid silver and enamels. The medal for Bravery measures 37.12 mm in diameter and 2.63 mm in thickness at the very edge of the medal. The height of the medal is 42.11 mm (including the eyelet) and it weighs 27.8 grams without its suspension.
The medal is in good overall condition. Raised details, such as the rivets on the tank and the cannons, remain clearly defined. The original red enamel is fully preserved with no repairs. On the reverse, a small-font stamped serial number -typical for duplicates- appears beneath a Cyrillic “D” (for duplicate). The “D” is faint due to surface scratches but still visible. The connection ring is intact and uncut, and the medal is fitted with a double-layer steel suspension.
.
Duplicate awards were (seldom) given to awardees who lost their award due to exceptional circumstances beyond their control like combat or natural disasters. Scarce as such
Probably awarded the second half of 1943 so with good research potential
