Description
Soviet Hero of Socialist Labor Gold Star #11632
Awarded to Lydia Ivanovna Sinitsyna (Лидия Ивановна Синицына) 1926-2001
By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 22, 1966
For increasing the production of milk and meat at the ‘Zimenki’ collective farm
Made of solid 23 carat gold. It measures 33.52 mm in height including the eyelet, 32.18 mm in width and weighs 15.3 grams without its suspension. The text Герой Социалистического Труда (Hero of Socialist Labor) is located at the center of the reverse. The suspension is authentic to the medal and measures 26.40 mm in width at his widest point and 21.81 mm in height at its narrowest point. The minimum know serial number of this variation is 10705 and the maximum is 21082.
The star is in great condition with sharp edges of the hammer and sickle and few traces of wear. The letters on the reverse are crisp as is the serial number. The suspension includes its original rectangular plate, hexagon nut and screwplate. The connection ring between the suspension and the medal has not been cut and the screw has been shortened by a few mm for more comfortable wear.
Interesting to note are the two french silver hallmarks (Owl and Swan) on the top of the reverse of its suspension. We have no idea how this happened
