Made of solid 23 carat gold. It measures 32.64 mm in height including the eyelet, 30.93 mm in width and weighs 17.2 grams without its suspension. The text Герой Социалистического Труда (Hero of Socialist Labor) is located at the center of the reverse. This early variation has the serial number with large numbers at the 12 o’clock position. The suspension is authentic to the medal and measures 25.91 mm in width at his widest point and 21.61 in height at its narrowest point.

The star is in great condition with sharp edges of the hammer and sickle and light overall wear and a dark patina to the gold. There are relatively few dings and scratches either side and the lettering on its reverse is perfectly visible as is the serial number. The suspension includes its time period rectangular plate and both the hexagon- and round screwplate. The connection ring between the suspension and the medal has not been cut and the screw is full length.

The star comes with its matching documents which are in problem free condition with all pages firmly attached to their cover.

Short biography of Babaeva:

She was born in 1918 in the family of a farmer in the village of Yangikishlak (today – Jabbar-Rasulovsky district of the Sughd region of Tajikistan). Since 1935, she worked as a collective farmer, a cotton-growing link in the Komintern collective farm (later the Moscow collective farm) in the Proletarsky district. In 1947 Turda Babayeva collected an average of 87.83 centners of raw cotton from each hectare on a plot of 3.5 hectares.

By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 1, 1948, “for obtaining a high cotton harvest when the collective farm fulfills mandatory deliveries and payment in kind for the work of the MTS in 1947 and the provision of seeds of grain crops for the spring sowing of 1948,” she was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor with the award of the Order of Lenin and Hammer and Sickle gold medal . By the same decree, the title of Hero of Socialist Labor was awarded to the chairman of the collective farm , Bobo Turdybaev , and the cotton grower, Vali Makhmudov. In 1951, she was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor for high labor achievements in the cultivation of cotton. She worked on the Komintern collective farm until 1957. The further fate is not known. She passed away in 2004.
