Set of Medals for Bravery with consecutive serial numbers

 

Awarded to Sgt. Sergej Arkhipovich Pristyazhnyuk (Сергей Архипович Пристяжнюк)

 

For exceptional bravery under fire. During the 1944 Bug River crossing, he replaced a fallen aimer to neutralize three enemy machine-gun nests and a mortar battery. Later, in the 1945 East Prussia offensive, he repeatedly maneuvered his gun into direct-fire positions and maintained ammunition resupply under heavy artillery bombardment.

 

 

Medal for Bravery #3106222

Made of solid silver and red lacquer. Measures 42.8 mm in height including its eyelet, 37.3 mm in width and it weighs 27.5 grams without its suspension.

In about average condition, showing traces of wear on both sides. Most of the original red lacquer in the lettering remains, though partly obscured by dirt. Both sides display a medium-dark patina. It comes with its time period suspension and ribbon and the suspension ring is intact and uncut.

 

Medal for Bravery #3106223

Made of solid silver and red lacquer. Measures 42.4 mm in height including its eyelet, 37.3 mm in width and it weighs 27.7 grams without its suspension.

In similar condition to the previous medal with most red lacquer present and several dings and scratches on both sides. This medal comes with its time period suspension as well and its connection ring is uncut.

 

Excerpt of the citation for his Medal for Bravery #3106222: 

47. Driver of the 5th battery private PRISTYAZHNYUK Sergej Arkhipovich is bestowed for the action near the town Heiligenbeil, East Prussia, on 24 March 1945. Despite intensive enemy artillery fire, he towed his gun 4 times to an open sights positions and later kept delivering ammunition across the rugged terrain.

 

Excerpt of the citation for his Medal for Bravery #3106223: 

19. PRISTYAZHNYUK Sergej Arkhipovich – gun crew member of the 5th Battery. He displayed bravery and courage during the crossing of the Western Bug River on July 23, 1944, in the Nemirov-Svyatoy area, Brest region. While positioned for direct fire under enemy fire, he set an example of courage and bravery; he took the place of the gun aimer who had been taken out of action. With accurate, aimed fire, he destroyed 3 enemy machine-gun nests and suppressed the fire of an enemy mortar battery, thereby enabling our troops to continue their advance.”
