Group of two Orders of the Red Star

Awarded to Master Sergeant Georgy Andreevich Efimovsky (Георгий Андреевич Ефимовский)

 

For successfully servicing 188 sorties and restoring 10 Yak-1 aircraft as a mechanic with the 1st and 2nd Ukrainian Fronts, demonstrating initiative, resourcefulness, and technical mastery in maintaining and repairing aircraft under combat conditions, while training junior specialists and earning the respect and authority of his squadron

 

 

Made of silver and enamel. The two Red Stars are mounted on an improvised suspension device, avoiding the need to drill holes in the uniform. The total weight is 65.2 grams, and the overall width is 96.27 mm.

Both orders remain in very good condition, with problem free enamels without repairs. The medallion details on the earlier Red Star show moderate wear, while the later piece retains perfectly sharp details.

 


Citation for the Order of the Red Star #1516323

In the regiment since July 1941. Works as a mechanic on Hawker Hurricane aircraft from July 1942 to September 1943. Served 120 sorties and restored 2 aircraft under enemy artillery fire, for what in March 1943, he was awarded with the medal “For Combat Merit”. Transferring to the new material part of the Yak-1, he perfectly studied the aircraft and the engine M-105PF.

As part of the 1st Ukrainian Front, he served on a Yak-1 aircraft 120 sorties and restored 6 aircraft.

As part of the 2nd Ukrainian Front, he served 68 sorties and restored 2 aircraft by replacing their engines, and replaced the chassis for 2 aircraft. In total, during the service in the 1st and 2nd Ukrainian Fronts, comrade Efimovsky served 188 sorties and restored 10 Yak-1 aircraft. He loves and treats his job very seriously. When servicing the material part, he shows great initiative and resourcefulness, his aircraft are always in good condition and perfectly clean. In the squadron 2 aircraft went out of order in January 1945, comrade Efimovsky on his own initiative, helped the mechanics of these aircraft in the matter of their restoration, and due to his strength and resourcefulness, these aircraft were put into operation in a short time. He perfectly knows the material part and is engaged with junior crew specialists, passing them his rich experience. Among the squadron’s personnel, enjoys well-deserved authority. Daily increases his technical and general growth.

Conclusion: For successfully servicing 188 sorties and restoring 10 aircraft as part of the 1st and 2nd Ukrainian Fronts after his first award, is worthy of the state award the “Order of the Red Star”.
