Group of Soviet Medals
Awarded to Jr. Sergeant Pavel Efimovich Denisenko (Павел Ефимович Денисенко)
For brave service in the 431st Chemical Protection Company since August 1941, showing courage under enemy air and artillery attacks. When leading a chemical reconnaissance unit near Berlin on April 25, 1945 Denisenko discovered an intact enemy chemical plant, securing it along with its stored toxic substances and labs, and handing it over to army chemical defense forces
The group consists of the following items:
Medal for Combat Merit #692513
Made of silver and red lacquer. Measures 32.00 mm in width, 37.22 mm in height including the eyelet and it weighs 17.5 grams without suspension.
This medal is in a worn but decent condition with medium wear on the raised areas but a fair amount of detail visible. A small of amount of the original lacquer is still present and the medal shows a light patina to the silver. Its connection ring has not been cut and its early double layer suspension is time period to the medal.
Medal for Combat Merit #2609910
Made of silver and red lacquer. Measures 32.01 mm in width, 37.63 mm in height including the eyelet and it weighs 18.2 grams without suspension.
In slightly better condition than the previous medal. Its details are better defined and slightly more red lacquer is filling the lettering ‘CCCP’. This medal too has an uncut connection ring and time period suspension and old ribbon.

In decent condition. It is numbered Б 242771 and dated 5 April 1947
Document for the Medal for the Defense of Moscow
In poor condition with both parts taped together and a piece has been torn off. It is numbered Ц 036330 and dated 1946
Document for the Medal for the Victory over Germany with document
In problem free condition. It is numbered Ш 0226782 and dated 8 September 1946
Congratulatory letters
In addition to the aforementioned items, this lot also comprises an extraordinary collection of 8 congratulatory letters from Stalin. All in used but complete condition

Medal for Combat Merit #692513
Denisenko served in 431 separate company of Chemical protection since it’s creation in August 1941.
Served in Red Army from 6 July, 1941, Denisenko disciplined commander, under bombing of enemy’s aviation and artillery fire, showing bravery and cleverness for saving people and combat technics. Denisenko deserves governmental award medal “for Combat Merit”.
Medal for Combat Merit #2609910
Denisenko in acting units begin service from beginning of advance from town Moscow December 6, 1941 and passed combat path to capital of Germany – Berlin. During combat actions near Berlin Denisenko moved with advancing units in staff of chemical intelligence group, led chemical reconnaissance of area and settlements leaving by enemy. In April 25, 1945 Denisenko’s intelligence group in forest discovered chemical secret plant. At plant discovered warehouse where tear gas and poisonous substances were stored. Enemy did not have time to destroy plant during retreat and it was of great value. On plant located 2 chemical laboratories, protection organized by group of chemical intelligence group and in April 27, 1945 transferred to defense group from chemical department of 3rd Army.
