Group of Soviet Medals with Booklet

 

Awarded to Private Ivan Dmitreevich Dudnikov (Иван Дмитриевич Дудников)

 

For delivering urgent combat reports to the front line under enemy fire to the company commander on the Kerch Peninsula on 11 February 1944, thereby ensuring the timely and accurate execution of the combat mission by the company commander

 

 

Medal for Bravery #949380

Made of solid silver and lacquer. Measures 42.26 mm in height including its eyelet, 37.07 mm in width and it weighs 22.3 gram.

In worn condition with several dings and scratches on both sides.The tank and aircraft on the obverse remain visible, though some details have been worn away. Despite this wear, a fair amount of the original red lacquer is still present, and the connection ring remains uncut. The medal comes with its time period double layer steel suspension.

 

Medal for Bravery #958437

Made of solid silver and lacquer. Measures 42.21 mm mm in height including its eyelet, 37.19 mm in width and it weighs 26.5 gram.

In similar condition to the previous medal with substantial wear to the raised areas. The majority of the red lacquer is still present and its connection ring uncut. This medal comes with its time period double layer steel suspension as well.

 

Medal for Combat Merit #137694

Made of solid silver and red enamels. Measures 37.18 mm in height including its eyelet, 32.19 mm in width and it weighs 19.0 gram.

In well above average condition with few traces of wear and all of the enamels present. Both sides show a nice even patina and its connection ring is intact. The brass suspension is period correct.

 

Medal booklet

In problem free condition with all pages present. The booklet mentions all 3 medals above together with a Medal for Combat Merit which is missing (first entry).

 

It appears that the Private was awarded two Medals for Bravery for the same act. The citations convey the same essence but differ slightly in their descriptions:

While on the Kerch Peninsula, on 11 February 1944, under enemy fire, he delivered an urgent combat report to the front line to the company commander, thereby ensuring the timely and accurate execution by the company commander of the combat mission.

While on the Kerch Peninsula, under enemy fire, he delivered a combat report to the company commander in a timely manner, which ensured the prompt and precise fulfillment of the combat task by the unit.
