Awarded to jewish Major Gottlieb Moiseevich Dubinsky (Готлиб Моисеевич Дубинский)

For leading the repair and evacuation of hundreds of armored vehicles under fire, often recovering them from front-line positions. He restored irreparable tanks, organized battlefield repairs, secured parts under combat conditions, and retrained crews

This group consists of the following items:

Made of gold, silver and enamels. Measures 45.88 mm in height, 44.07 mm in width and weighs 24.9 grams.

This order is in pristine condition. The silver shows few dings or scratches on either side and the beautiful red and white enamels are problem free without repairs or chipping. The screw of the order has not been shortened and the order comes with its time period screwplate.

Order of the Red Star #216343

Research of the Order of the Patriotic War:

During the period of combat operations from January 12, 1945, he proved himself to be a competent, energetic, and initiative-driven officer in accomplishing assigned tasks.

He organized repairs of combat vehicles directly on the battlefield, ensuring their quick return to service.

He properly organized the army’s repair facilities and repair units for armored and self-propelled equipment, ensuring timely and quality repairs. He also secured the necessary spare parts and materials, which often had to be retrieved from the battlefield under fire.

In March alone, the repair unit restored 153 combat vehicles.

He dedicated significant effort, using his knowledge and experience, to retraining repair crews for work on heavy armored vehicles.

He achieved prompt evacuation of disabled heavy vehicles to the rear maintenance points. In March alone, 42 vehicles were evacuated.

Demonstrating great dedication, he personally inspected each damaged combat vehicle and gave orders for its rapid repair.

Research of the Order of the Red Star:

Comrade Dubinsky, serving as a repair and evacuation officer, skillfully led the repair and evacuation of armored vehicles. He ensured the systematic planning and effective management of repair operations.

Under his direct leadership, during a 15-day period, 147 combat vehicles were restored and returned to service.

In total, in July, 315 combat vehicles were repaired, and 149 were evacuated.

He showed particular initiative in organizing the evacuation and restoration of tanks and self-propelled guns under difficult conditions, ensuring that disabled vehicles were not left on the battlefield.

During the fighting for the city of Nikopol, he personally organized and supervised the evacuation of 115 combat vehicles, including 8 tanks that were previously considered irreparable.

He demonstrated exceptional diligence and technical competence, ensuring the restoration of vehicles that contributed significantly to the fighting ability of the units.

Research of the Medal for Combat Merit:

Comrade Dubinsky G.M., working as Senior Assistant to the Head of the Evacuation Department, showed himself to be a determined and strong-willed person in his work. Since January 1943 to the present time, Comrade Dubinsky has participated in the evacuation of over 130 vehicles from among those restored in the repair and recovery units of the army. All these vehicles, under his leadership, were pulled from the front lines under enemy artillery and machine-gun fire. Comrade Dubinsky applied all efforts to restore the vehicles in field conditions.
