Complete documented group of Soviet Awards

 

Awarded to Sr. Lieutenant Petr Fedoseevich Rudenko (Петр Федосеевич Руденко)

 

For consistently delivering ammunition from the rear directly to the firing positions and organizing repairs. Repeatedly, during the crossing of the Vazuza River, he skillfully transported vehicles loaded with ammunition without any losses from enemy air attacks

 

 

The group consists of the following items:

 

Order of the Red Star #357532

Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 46.75 mm in height, 48.23 mm in width and weighs 27.4 grams without screwplate. The mint mark Monetni Dvor in two lines is located above its screwpost and the serial number at the bottom.

In excellent condition with extremely well preserved enamels without repairs or chipping. The center medallion portraying the soldier shows light to medium wear with much of detail still visible. Its reverse shows an appealing patina to the silver and its mint mark and serial number are well defined. The order comes with its correct silver screwplate that fits well, and its screwpost has not been shortened.

 

Medal for Combat Merit #2721257

Made of solid silver and red lacquer. It measures 32.42 mm in diameter, 37.59 mm in height including its eyelet and weighs 19.0 grams without its suspension.

The medal is in above average condition with well defined details and light wear to the raised areas. All of the original red lacquer filling the lettering is still present and both sides show a nice even patina to the silver. Its double layer suspension and ribbon are time period to the medal and its connection ring has not been cut.

 

Medal for the Capture of Berlin with document

Made of brass. Measures 32.09 in diameter and weighs 17.2 grams without suspension.

In excellent condition with crisp details and relatively few dings and scratches. It comes with a time period double layer suspension and old ribbon.

Its document is in great condition and is numbered Б 133528 and dated 9 May 1946.

 

Medal for the Liberation of Warsaw with document 

Made of brass. Measures 32.14 in diameter and weighs 17.2 grams without suspension.

The medal is in excellent condition with crisp details and relatively few dings and scratches. Much of the original gold-like luster is still present on both sides. The medal comes with its  time period double layer steel suspension and old ribbon.

Its docuemnt is in decent condition with the all written text perfectly readable. It is dated 15 May 1946 and numbered A 257806.

 

Medal for the Victory over Germany with document

Made of brass. Measures 32.12 in diameter and weighs 17.3 grams without suspension.

In problem free condition with a fair amount of luster still present. It too comes with a time period double layer steel suspension and old ribbon.

Its document is in excellent condition and is dated 31 December 1945 and numbered Ж 0220892.

Its order booklet is in good condition and contains all pages. It mentions the numbered awards above only.

 

Brief summary of the citation for the Red Star:

During the brigade’s combat operations, Rudenko consistently delivered ammunition from the rear directly to the firing positions and organized their repair. Repeatedly, during the crossing of the Vazuza River (Rzhev crossing), he skillfully transported vehicles loaded with ammunition without any losses from enemy air attacks.

Rudenko is deserving of the Government Order of the Red Star.
