Complete Documented Group of an Order of Glory and a Medal for Bravery

 

Awarded to Sr. Sergeant Vasily Konstantinovich Stebelkov (Василий Константинович Стебельков)

 

For clearing hundreds of enemy mines, constructing bridges under fire, equipping observation posts, laying defensive mines, rescuing a wounded commander from the battlefield, and successfully clearing passages through minefields

 

 

This group consist of the following items:

 

Order of Glory 3rd class #550230

Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 45.75 mm in width, 48.22 mm in height and weighs 22.5 grams. The serial number is located on top of its reverse.

This order is in great, well above average condition with crisp details on even the raised areas like the tower. The enamels are fully present and very well preserved without dings and scratches. The order shows a nice even patina to the silver and its connection ring has not been cut. It comes with its correct double layer steel suspension and old ribbon.

 

Medal for Bravery #915838

Made of solid silver and red lacquer. Measures 37.21 mm in diameter, 42.36 mm in height including its eyelet and weighs 27.2 grams.

The medal is in good overall condition with most details visible but several dings on both sides. Over half of the original red lacquer is still present and without repairs. Its connection ring has not been cut, and the medal comes with its period-appropriate suspension and an old ribbon.

 

Order Booklet

Its accompanying order booklet is in excellent condition with all pages firmly attached to its cover. It mentions both numbered awards only.

 

 

Brief, concrete description of his feat of arms or achievements for the Order of Glory 3rd class:

In the battles with the German invaders, Senior Sergeant Stebelkov showed courage and bravery. In the area of Skurdashena, he removed and neutralized 61 enemy mines, in the area of Gypsies 45 mines, in the Borovka area 250 pieces. Under his leadership, 5 bridges were built under enemy fire, he equipped 4 observation posts and installed up to 200 anti-personnel and anti-tank mines.

In the battles near the city of Dvinsk, he carried out from the battlefield and provided first aid to his seriously wounded commander of the sapper platoon, Junior Lieutenant Kalinkin.

Is worthy of the state award the “Order of Glory III Class”.

 

Brief, concrete description of his feat of arms or achievements for the Medal of Bravery:

29. Assistant commander of the Sapper Platoon, Senior Sergeant Stebelkov Vasily Konstantinovich, for the fact that he performing the combat mission of clearing passages in a minefield for the infantry offensive in the direction of the village of Palkino, Nevelsky region, on the night of 15.12.1943, completed the task under enemy fire.
