Awarded to Sr. Sergeant Nikolay Savvych Mogilat (Николай Саввич Могилат)

 

For being among the first to storm enemy trenches in East Prussia on April 14, 1945, killing six Germans and capturing four. His personal bravery inspired fellow soldiers. Sgt. Mogilat was wounded twice

 

 

Made of silver and enamels. Measures 45.64 mm in width, 47.64 mm in height and weighs 24.4 grams without its suspension. The serial number is located on top of its reverse.

 

In overall niece condition nice condition with strong patina to the silver on both sides. Some of the details of the raised areas show wear but a fair amount of details are still visible. Its enamels on the small red star and the lower banner are fully present without repairs and show some dings and scratches only. Its connection ring has not been cut and its double layer suspension is time period to the medal.

Participating in combats with German’s invaders he was 2 times wounded.

In combat for settlement in Eastern Prussia in April 14, 1945 he was among the first to burst into enemy trenches and killed 6 Germans and captured 4. His personal fearlessness served as example for other soldiers.
