MAZURKEVICH served in the 24th Battalion from August 1941. During this period, he proved himself to be a disciplined and hardworking manager, capable of quickly and correctly assigning tasks to units and persistent in carrying out the Command’s assignments.

During the offensive operations of our troops in the Jassy–Kishinev direction and on the territory of Romania, MAZURKEVICH, as chief, successfully directed the departments in constructing an airfield network for the operations of our aviation and in supporting attacks against retreating enemy units. During this period, 60 new airfields were built, with an average labor productivity of 144%.

During the offensive operations on the territory of Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and Austria, especially in the area of the encircled German Budapest group of troops and on the Vienna axis, battalion units carried out airfield construction tasks under the difficult conditions of the mountainous and forested terrain of the Little Carpathians and while combating mountain meltwater. MAZURKEVICH’s orders were carried out on time and with excellent quality. In the first four months of 1945 alone, 24 new airfields were built, 9 were repaired, and 547 special construction projects were completed, with a total value of 2,793,000 rubles, representing 139% of the annual plan.

MAZURKEVICH personally devoted much effort to his work and skillfully managed production accounting and reporting. MAZURKEVICH is politically competent, a devoted officer of the Communist Party and the Socialist Motherland, and enjoys authority among the personnel.

For the excellent execution of the Command’s assignments, skillful and efficient management of construction work, high labor productivity, and discipline, MAZURKEVICH deserves the governmental award of the Order of the Red Star.
