Soviet Order of the Patriotic War 1st class #46522

Awarded to private Pavel Mitrofanovich Sholokhov (Павел Митрофанович Шолохов)

Comes with copies of great research!

Made of solid gold, silver and enamels. Measures 46.14 mm in height and 43.07 mm in width. It weighs 27.26 gram. The serial number is located at the 6 o’clock position and the mint mark Monetni Dvor is located at the 12 o’clock position of its reverse.

This original order of the Patriotic War is in near mint condition. The details are crisp and both the white and red enamels pristine. Not even the higher laying parts like the hammer and sickle show any wear. Its reverse is in mint condition as well and shows a light counter relief. Its screwpate is time period to the order and the screw maintained its full length.

Next to impossible to upgrade and awarded to a private. Scarce as such

Brief description of his feat of arms or achievements:

“During the crossing of the Sivash on the night of November 2 to November 3, 1943, he inspired and invigorated his entire crew through personal example as the guns were put across the Sivash.

During the fighting between November 3 and November 5, 1943, he displayed bravery and courage while firing over open sights at the counterattacking enemy infantry, inflicting heavy casualties upon the enemy troops.

On November 5, 1943 comrade P.M. Sholokhov was wounded, but he stayed on the battlefield until the battle was over.

He deserves the Order of the Patriotic War, 1st Class.”
