“During the fierce offensive operations between May 7, 1944 and May 12, 1944 comrade Matyushkin showed himself an exceptionally bold and decisive staff officer who is full of initiative and capable of organizing staff work in any and all combat conditions. Regardless of any difficulties and the combat situation, comrade Matyushkin went without any sleep or rest to supervise the staff work.
Owing to comrade Matyushkin’s painstaking efforts, the staff informed its parent staff in a timely manner.
Despite heavy enemy artillery, mortar, rifle, and machine-gun fire comrade Matyushkin personally reviewed the front line and ascertained the situation.
He deserves the Order of Kutuzov, 3rd Class.”
