Order of the Red Star #51268

Восцин Михаил Иванович

Awarded to Engineer Captain Mikhail Ivanovich Voscin (Михаил Иванович Восцин)

We could not find the citation for this Red Star online but the award must be linked to his battleship ‘October Revolution‘ and the events during 1941- first half 1942. The ship was hit several times and as repair team commander he was involved in all the battle damage repairs

Made of silver and enamels. The order measures 48.67 mm in width, 46.57 mm in height and weighs 31.9 grams without its screwplate. The serial number is located at the 6 o’clock position and the mint mark on the 12 o’clock position of its reverse. This early variation has a round base ‘heel’ of the screw.

In an excellent, well above average condition with the details of the raised silver parts like the soldier are perfectly visible. The enamels are absolutely stunning and show some minor contact marks only; no chipping or repairs. The reverse is in excellent condition too and shows a dark toning. The order comes with its time period silver screwplate and its screw has not been shortened.

An early naval award in excellent condition. Scarce as such!
