Awarded to Sergeant Vasily Ilyich Kuzin (Василий Ильич Кузин)

 

For personally destroying an enemy medium tank T-3 together with its crew and 2 machine-gun points at the Battle for Stalingrad. He also eliminated several Germans in later battles and was wounded in the head

 

 

Made of silver and enamels. Measures 48.35 mm in width, 46.16 mm in height and weighs 29.1 grams without its screwplate. The serial number is located at the 6 o’clock position and the mint mark on the 12 o’clock position of its reverse.

 

In nice overall condition with medium wear to the silver. Most details are still visible and the enamels are without repairs and show some dings contact marks only (most noticeably on the top ray). Its screw has not been shortened and the order comes with a time period screwplate.

“Senior Sergeant Kuzin Vasily Ilyich, while on the Stalingrad Front, in the staff of the 32nd Motorized Rifle Brigade, as an anti-tank gunner. When attacking German tanks in the area of the river crossing of the city of Kalach, personally from an anti-tank rifle, destroyed an enemy medium tank T-3 together with its crew and 2 machine-gun points.

When the village of Goryugaya was liberated, Comrade Kuzim destroyed 5 enemy firing points and up to 10 soldiers. In the area of Boguchar region of the Voronezh region, comrade Kuzim participated in the destruction of a German group, where 12,000 soldiers and officers were captured by our units.

During December 1942, near the city of Millerovo, he participated in the attack on 2 bunkers, whereby he destroyed 2 fire machine-gun crews and 8 soldiers. During this attack on the night of December 31, 1942, he was wounded in the head in the back of the head with damage to the bones of the skull. Serving on the 1st Belorussian Front as part of the 27th separate machine gun and artillery battalion, 153rd fortified area as a gunner of 76mm guns.

When aiming, Comrade Kuzina destroyed quite some targets and showed himself to be a gunner who knows his business. Worthy of a government award: the Order of the “Red Star”.”
