Relatively uncommon variation manufactured by the Moscow Platinpribor Factory (MZPP)
Made of silver and enamels. Measures 48.51 mm in width, 46.78 mm in height and weighs 27.9 grams without its screwplate. These MZPP productions show a small mint mark and a characteristic ‘clumsy’ handwriting.
In nice condition with light to medium wear to the raised areas like the soldier. The red enamels are well preserved and show a some dings and small scratches only. Both sided show an appealing toning to the silver and its screwpost has not been shortened. The order comes with its well fitted and time period screwplate.
Probably awarded in the summer of ’45 so with nice research potential.
The Soviet Order of the Red Star was given to Red Army and Navy personnel for exceptional service in the cause of the defense of the Soviet Union; in both war and peace. Also awarded for 15 years of service prior to the creation of the long service awards.
