Awarded to Sr. Lieutenant Ganna Aleksandrovna Shadrina (Ганна Александровна Шадрина)

Secretary of the divisional newspaper “For Motherlad” of 52 Guards rifle “Riga” Lenin and Suvorov orders division.

Awarded for bravery as a divisional newspaper secretary during the Battle of Berlin, rescuing documents and equipment after an air raid, and receiving crucial dispatches under heavy artillery fire

Made of silver and enamels. Measures 48.02 mm in width, 46.49 mm in height and weighs 31.1 grams without its screwplate. The serial number is located at the 6 o’clock position and the mint mark on the 12 o’clock position of its reverse.

 

In excellent overall condition with most detail still visible and light to medium overall wear. The enamels are well preserved without  chipping or repairs and show some contact marks and dings only. Its screw has not been shortened and the order comes with its time period and well fitted screwplate.

Brief and specific description of the personal feat or merits:

In the battle for Berlin city, she worked as a secretary of the divisional newspaper “For Motherland” and exhibited courage and bravery.

When the vehicles of the newspaper editor mobile office were hit in an enemy air raid near the town Letschin, she saved the editor office documentation and equipment. In the difficult frontline conditions, she continued her work receiving radiograms with important state documents and timely preparation of the printing material for the newspaper. She worked 18-20 hours a day.

In the town Malchow on 27 April 1945, under continuous enemy artillery fire, she received 3 dispatches issued by comrade STALIN and a Sovinformburo announcement utilising radio equipment damaged by enemy shell fragments.

She deserves to be bestowed with order “PATRIOTIC WAR II CLASS”.
