Awarded to Guards sergeant Vasily Ilyich Ternovoj (Василий Ильич Терновой)
For courage while eliminating the enemy on the streets of the town of Lepel with his Mk-3 tank
Made of silver and enamels. Measures 47.42 mm in width, 45.66 mm in height and weighs 30.3 gram without its screwplate. The serial number is located at the 6 o’clock position and the mint mark on the 12 o’clock position of its reverse.
This original order of the Red Star is in excellent, above average condition. The details are mostly visible and the enamels problem free apart from some small scratches on the 9 and 12 o’clock rays of the star. There have been no repairs and the screw is full length. It comes with its time period and well fitted screwplate.
Brief and specific description of the personal feat or merits:
“Comrade TERNOVOJ has been serving as a mechanic driver of a Mk-3 (Valentine) tank. He has proved himself as a courageous, decisive and daring fighter. He especially distinguished himself in the battle for the town Lepel. His tank was one of the first to enter into the southern outskirts of the town, where it kept destroying by tracks the enemy materiel and troops. Then they pushed into the town, where they kept eliminating the enemy on the streets. This effort allowed for capture of the town Lepel and conclusion of the regiment combat objective.
For his combat effort on the front of struggle against the German invaders, he deserves order “RED STAR”.”
