Order of the Red Star #1506960 with document

 

Awarded to Jr. Sergeant Dmitrij Nikolaevich Roslij (Дмитрий Николаевич Рослый)

 

For risking his life under intensive enemy artillery fire when boldly rolling out his gun to a forward open sights position in Hungary. By doing so he destroyed an enemy APC and a machine-gun position

 

Made of silver and enamels. Measures 48.46 mm in width, 46.19 mm in height and weighs 32.4 grams without its screwplate. The mint mark is located above, and the serial number underneath the screw post.

 

In nice condition with a medium patina to the silver on both sides. The higher laying parts like the soldier show medium to strong wear. The enamel is mostly present on all rays of the star with some minor superficial chipping at two of the tips. The screwplate is time period to the order and the screw has not been shortened.

 

The order comes with its award booklet which is in excellent condition with all pages attached to the cover. This Red Star is the only award listed.

 

Brief and specific description of the personal feat or merits

Jr. Sergeant ROSLIJ Dmitrij Nikolaevich 1922
Gun layer of 76mm cannon, 429 rifle regiment, 52 rifle “Şumla” Red Banner division.
Drafted in May 1944 after living on the occupied territory (in Odessa region, just like my grand-dad).

Recommendation for order “RED STAR” :

On 24 March 1945, in an attack on the village Mocsa (Komárom district, Hungary), he risked his life under intensive enemy artillery fire. He boldly rolled out his gun to a forward open sights position and destroyed an enemy APC and a machine-gun position, which enabled advance o our troops and capture of the village Mocsa.
He deserves to be bestowed with order “RED STAR”.
