Soviet Order of the Red Banner #427821
Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 44.83 mm in height and 36.30 mm in width. It weighs 24.6 gram. The serial number and the mint mark Monetni Dvor are located at the 6 o’clock position.
This order of the Red Banner is in excellent condition and shows an attractive dark patina. None of the higher parts on the obverse show any wear and the details are all crisp. The red enamel is problem free apart from some minor contact marks and a small chip on the bottom of the top banner. There are no repairs and the connection ring has not been cut. Its double layer steel suspension is time period to the order.
The Order of the Red Banner recognized military deeds. Before the establishment of the Order of Lenin, the order functioned as the highest (and practically the only) military order of the USSR. Practically all well-known Soviet commanders became Cavaliers of this Order. Also awarded to NKVD personnel.
