Order of the Red Banner 3rd award #1385

Петр Андреевич Жданов

Awarded to Black sea Fleet Captain-Lieutenant Petr Petrovich Grigoriev (Петр Петрович Григорьев)

Awarded for mine cleaning. Grigoriev was also awarded the Order of Nakhimov 2nd class

Made of silver and enamels by the Krasnokamsk Mint. Measures 37.04 in width, 44.62 in height and weighs 24.1 grams without its suspension. Number ‘3’ is visible at the bottom of the front indicating this is the third Red Banner this awardee received.

In flawless condition with sharp, well-defined details and an attractive silver patina. The red and white enamels are exceptionally well preserved and unrestored, especially notable given its wartime production. All original gold plating remains intact, and the reverse is nearly free of any dings or scratches. The order is complete with its original double-layer steel suspension and uncut connection ring. Also noteworthy is the strong mirror-like reverse projection, characteristic of certain Red Banners from the Krasnokamsk Mint.

A stunning piece and not for long service. Rare as such!

Under his command and with his personal participation, the squadron conducted a series of operations to clear enemy marine mines in the areas of the Caucasian, Crimean, and North-Western coasts.
