Awarded to Guards Jr. Lieutenant Evgeny Semyonovich Lavrentiev (Евгений Семенович Лаврентьев)

 

For harsh street fighting in Poznan and Lodz and destroying 29 machine-guns, 10 cannons, 2 anti-aircraft systems and eliminating up to 50 Hitlerites with his battery in the process

 

 

Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 45.94 mm in height, 37.12 mm in width and it weighs 26.1 gram without its suspension. The serial number and curved mint mark are located at the 6 o’clock position of its reverse.

 

This Order of the Red Banner is in overall nice condition with medium wear on the higher laying parts. The details are mostly visible and much of the original gold plating is still present. The white enamel is flawless and the red enamel shows some chipping around the edges. its connection ring has not been cut and the order comes with its time period double layer steel suspension and ribbon.

 

 

Brief, concrete description of his feat of arms or achievements:

“In the ferocious battles against the German-Fascist invaders from Vistula till Poznan, comrade LAVRENTIEV exhibited courage, bravery and his ability to command his battery in any combat situation.

In the engagement near the town Lodz, his battery destroyed 9 machine-gun positions, 4 field cannons, and eliminated up to 20 Hitlerites.

In the harsh street engagements on the streets of the town Poznan, his battery destroyed 6 cannons, up to 20 machine-guns, 2 anti-aircraft systems, set ablaze 2 enemy ammunition depots, and eliminated up to 30 German troops. This was achieved under enemy fire and by pushing the guns by hands in front of them from streets to streets.

Comrade LAVRENTIEV is constantly in the field among his gun formation, where he leads the battle and inspires his men for great feats by personal example. He was wounded in the engagement on 10 February 1945. ”
