Order of the Red Banner 2nd award #20867

Made of solid  silver and enamels. It measures 35.97 mm in width and 44.01 mm in height and weighs 24.6 grams without its suspension. The mint mark is located above the serial number and consists of two lines. This variation is produced in two batches. The serial number range of the first batch lays between 20206 and 21064 and the second batch ranges from 24252 and 26786. In total less than 3500 of this variation were awarded.

This original order is in excellent condition with all details crisp. Both the red and white enamels are well preserved and without repairs and the order still shows a fair amount of the original gold plating. Its reverse shows some minor contact marks only and its connection ring is cut. The double layer suspension is time period to the order.

A beautiful and scarce piece

The Order of the Red Banner recognized military deeds. Before the establishment of the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner functioned as the highest (and practically the only) military order of the USSR. Practically all well-known Soviet commanders became Cavaliers of the Order of the Red Banner. Also awarded to NKVD personnel.
