Awarded to Guards Sergeant Major Mikhail Georgievich Tkachenko (Михаил Георгиевич Ткаченко)
For displaying exceptional bravery by eliminating an enemy firing point and neutralizing eight German soldiers on January 16, 1945 during a reconnaissance mission near the river Odra. Less than two weeks later, on January 28, near Burshtyn, he risked his life again by driving under heavy fire to rescue two wounded soldiers from a damaged vehicle, all while under direct enemy observation
Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 45.39 mm in height, 37.36 mm in width and it weighs 28.5 grams without its suspension. The serial number and curved mint mark are located at the 6 o’clock position of its reverse.
In overall good condition with light wear to the raised areas like the center wreath and most details still visible. The white enamel is flawless and the red enamel shows some minor flaking around the edges and a chip on the 3 o’clock ray of the center star. Its connection ring has not been cut and the order comes with its time period double layer steel suspension and old ribbon.

On January 16, 1945, while advancing in the area of Starye Dobra during reconnaissance of the crossing point over the river Odra, Tkachenko, with exceptional bravery, completed his mission by personally destroying an enemy firing point and eliminating eight German soldiers.
On January 28, 1945, operating with the Commandant’s Company near the town of Burshtyn, Tkachenko drove under heavy fire and removed two disabled soldiers from a damaged vehicle under direct enemy observation.
