Awarded to Captain Arkhip Mitrofanovich Kulish (Архип Митрофанович Кулиш)

 

For inflicting heavy losses on the enemy with his company by destroying up to 90 German soldiers and officers, 4 light machine guns and capturing 10 German soldiers who gave valuable information about the enemy

 

 

Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 45.01 mm in height, 37.55 mm in width and it weighs 29.1 gram without its suspension. The serial number and mint mark are located at the 6 o’clock position of its reverse.

 

In nice condition with its details mostly visible and crisp and medium overall wear. The white enamels are flawless and the red enamels show some minor flaking around the edges, not penetrating the silver and not distracting from the overall appeal of the order. The reverse shows numerous small dings and scratches but the serial and mint mark are still crisp. Its connection ring has been cut and the double sided steel suspension is time period to the award.

 

 

Short excerpt of his accomplishments:

In battles from 22.01. to 01/27/1945, outside the cities of Khzhanuv and Imelin, Comrade Kulish, without leaving the rifle companies, gave his instructions in a timely manner on the implementation of the assigned combat mission by the command of the regiment. When the commander of the 1st rifle company died, comrade Kulish took over the command of the company and in these battles during the liberation of the cities of Khzhanuv and Imelin, the company inflicted heavy losses on the enemy in manpower and equipment, while destroyed: up to 90 German soldiers and officers, 4 light machine guns, and captured 10 German soldiers who gave valuable information about the enemy.

Comrade Kulish commanded the company until the task was completed. Political mass work in the battalion is well organized, he himself personally at the forefront makes reports and is engaged in newspapers with the latest events.
