Awarded to Private Dmitry Fyodorovich Romanov (Дмитрий Федорович Романов)
For actions in August 1942. During the fighting at the villages of Dubno, Yuryevo and Konoplyanka he carried 56 wounded men and their weapons off of the battlefield under enemy machine-gun and mortar fire
Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 45.77 mm in height, 37.79 mm in width and it weighs 26.9 grams without its suspension. The serial number and mint mark are located at the 6 o’clock position of its reverse.
In nice condition with its details mostly visible and crisp and relatively few dings and scratches. The white enamels are flawless and the red enamels problem free apart from a repair at the left side of the top banner and on the 9 o’clock ray of the center star. The connection ring has not been cut and the double sided steel suspension is time period to the award.
A very high award to a private for true heroism!

Awarded on November 5, 1942 to Private Dmitry Fyodorovich Romanov, medical orderly in the 5th Rifle Company, 457th Rifle Regiment, 222nd Rifle Division, 33rd Army, Western Front. Essentially a catch-up award, it was awarded for actions in August 1942. During the fighting at the villages of Dubno, Yuryevo and Konoplyanka he carried 56 wounded men and their weapons off of the battlefield under enemy machine-gun and mortar fire. Born in 1903, he served in the Red Army from 1941 to 1944. Following his discharge he worked as a kolkhoz farmer. This was his only award.
