Brief, concrete description of his feat of arms or achievements:
In a battle with a large enemy grouping on September 21, 1944, in the Porkuni Manor area of the Estonian SSR, the self-propelled gun commander Sergeant Major Nikolai Ivanovich Fomichev, boldly rushing forward to seize the crossroads along which the enemy was retreating, cut off the route of his retreat and, in an unequal battle, shot the enemy at point-blank range. He destroyed 75 German soldiers and officers over 60 carts with military supplies, 15 machine guns, up to 160 horses and many other weapons. Despite the enormous superiority in the enemy’s forces, he held it until the approach of our main forces, thereby ensuring the complete destruction of the large enemy grouping. Comrade Fomichev deserves a government award, the Order of Lenin.
