Awarded Posthumously to NKVD Private Ivan Platonovich Kustov (Иван Платонович Кустов)
For being the first to rush into the enemy controlled area in Serbia, attacking a strongly fortified enemy position with his hand grenades. In the process he killed 5 German troops before he fell himself in battle
Made of solid silver, gold and enamels by the Krasnokamsk Mint (KMD). The order measures 44.08 mm in width, 45.21 mm in height and weighs 28.0 grams without its screwplate. Its serial number and mint mark are located on the bottom of its reverse.
In nice overall condition with all its details still visible and a medium patina to the silver on both sides. The red and white enamels show some dings and scratches and are without repairs. Much of the gold plating on the lettering and edges of the 5 pointed star is still present. The order comes with its original, time period screwplate and its screw has not been shortened.
Brief description of his feat of arms or achievements:
Senior telephonist of 91 Red Banner border guards regiment comrade KUSTOV is bestowed for his brave and decisive conduct during the combat engagement against the German-Fascist invaders near the villages Glogovica and Dubočane on 07 October 1944. Being wounded, he remained in action during the combat engagement for elimination of the enemy pockets on the hill 541. In an assault of the enemy fortification on a mountain pass, he was the first to rush into the enemy controlled area and attacked one strongly fortified enemy position with his hand grenades, killing 5 German troops, where he also fell in battle by the death of the brave.
Comrade KUSTOV I.P. deserves to be bestowed posthumously with order “PATRIOTIC WAR II CLASS”.
