Awarded to Guards Major Vladimir Ivanovich Dachnikov (Владимир Иванович Дачников)

For distinguishing himself during the offensive from July 14 to 18, 1944, by demonstrating outstanding courage and tactical skill. He executed a bold flanking maneuver to capture a heavily fortified enemy position and continued the rapid advance, breaking through enemy defenses despite fierce resistance and air attacks

Made of solid gold, silver and enamels. Measures 46.16 mm in height, 43.75 mm in width and weighs 28.0 grams without its screwplate. The serial number is located at the 6 o’clock position and the mint mark Monetni Dvor is located at the 12 o’clock position of its reverse.

In excellent condition with all details crisp and clear, showing only light wear on raised areas like the gold hammer and sickle. The red and white enamels are well preserved, with minor dings and scratches but no chips. The reverse is equally well-kept, featuring an appealing patina on the gold. The silver screwplate fits perfectly well, and the screw retains its full original length.

Brief description of his feat of arms or achievements:

Guards Major Dachnikov, commanding the 2nd Rifle Battalion during the regiment’s offensive operations from July 14 to July 18, 1944, demonstrated courage, bravery, and tactical competence.

As a result of a bold flanking maneuver, the battalion under Comrade Dachnikov’s command stormed and seized a heavily fortified enemy position — the town of Stoyanov, Lviv Oblast, on July 15, 1944.

Continuing the rapid advance, boldly breaking through into the depths of the enemy’s defense, and despite strong resistance supported by heavy aerial bombardment, on July 16, 1944, in cooperation with other rifle battalions, his battalion took control of the town of Kholoyuv, Lviv Oblast.

Pursuing the retreating enemy and preventing them from regrouping at intermediate defensive lines, on the night of July 17, 1944, the battalion crossed the Western Bug River using improvised means and cut the highway between Velyki Mosty and Sokol.

In these three battles, Guards Major Dachnikov’s battalion destroyed significant enemy personnel and equipment.

Comrade Dachnikov is deserving of a government award — the Order of the Patriotic War, 1st Class.
