As a result of a bold flanking maneuver, the battalion under Comrade Dachnikov’s command stormed and seized a heavily fortified enemy position — the town of Stoyanov, Lviv Oblast, on July 15, 1944. Continuing the rapid advance, boldly breaking through into the depths of the enemy’s defense, and despite strong resistance supported by heavy aerial bombardment, on July 16, 1944, in cooperation with other rifle battalions, his battalion took control of the town of Kholoyuv, Lviv Oblast. Pursuing the retreating enemy and preventing them from regrouping at intermediate defensive lines, on the night of July 17, 1944, the battalion crossed the Western Bug River using improvised means and cut the highway between Velyki Mosty and Sokol. In these three battles, Guards Major Dachnikov’s battalion destroyed significant enemy personnel and equipment. Comrade Dachnikov is deserving of a government award — the Order of the Patriotic War, 1st Class.
