Order of Suvorov 3rd class #8461

Данчич Игорь Александрович

Awarded to Major Igor Aleksandrovich Danchich (Игорь Александрович Данчич)

For leading and directly participating in the construction of 5 river crossing sites for division troops under heavy enemy fire, enabling a swift capture of a bridgehead on the Desna river’s western bank. His leadership and personal involvement motivated the sappers to work quickly despite the risk from enemy artillery and air attacks

Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 49.81 mm in width and weighs 24.2 gram without its screwplate. The serial number and the mint mark Monetni Dvor are located on its reverse. The minimum known serial number is 2142 and the maximum is 12247. Despite the wide number range, only 4012 of these orders were awarded.

This original order of Suvorov is in problem free condition with flawless enamels. Its details are mostly visible and the raised parts like Suvorov’s head show medium wear. There have been no repairs and the extremely long screw has not been shortened and maintained its full length. Both sides show a light patina to the silver and some small dings and scratches. The order comes with its time period and well fitted silver screwplate.

Scarce and desirable piece

Short Description of his feat of arms:

Thanks to his skillful leadership and efficient utilization of the subordinate sapper troops, he managed to organize construction of 5 river crossing sites for the division troops despite deadly enemy artillery-mortar barrages and air bombardment. This effort enabled rapid thrust and capture of bridgehead on the western bank of Desna river.

Disregarding mortal danger from the enemy artillery-mortar fire and air strikes, he personally took direct part and supervised crossing by all the division sub-units. His personal example inspired his sappers for accelerated work for construction of the river crossing sites for the division.
