Description
Order of Glory 3rd Class #77718
Awarded to SU-76 gunner Vasily Aleksandrovich Kormiltsev (Василий Александрович Кормильцев)
For suppressing enemy fire, destroying a gun, one enemy tank and a truck in June 1944
Kormiltsev also received the Order of Glory 2nd class
Made of silver and enamels. Measures 47.16 mm in width, 48.78 mm in height including its eyelet and it weighs 23.0 grams without its suspension.
This early order is in a nice, above average condition considering it is an early piece. The enamel is fully present without repairs or chipping and shows some dings and contact marks only. The raised parts like the tower and the wreath surrounding it show light to medium wear and are covered with a dark layer of patina. Its reverse shows some scratches near the letters ‘CCCP’ which are possibly the result of a screwpost removal (some awardees attached screws to they suspension awards to stop them sweeping around when moving). Its connection ring has not been cut and the order comes with a time period double layer steel suspension.
Short, concrete description of his combat feat or merits:
During the fighting near the village of Zagryadno he suppressed enemy fire and destroyed a gun. During the fighting with retreating enemy tanks 1.5 kilometers east of the village of Baretski, he suddenly fired and put one tank out of action. One enemy truck was knocked out. He deserves the Order of Glory, 3rd Class.
