Awarded to Private Ivan Loginovich Chikcheev (Иван Логинович Чикчеев)
For combat service from the very start of the Great Patriotic War, including active participation in the defense of Odessa and Sevastopol as a rifleman, and for sustaining a severe combat wound during the defense of Sevastopol that resulted in permanent disability
Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 46.00 in width, 47.35 mm in height and it weighs 21.9 grams (not including its suspension).
In repaired condition, as the original eyelet was broken off at some point and replaced by a brass substitute soldered in place. Otherwise, the order is free of issues, with well-defined details and only light wear on both sides. The enamels are well preserved, without chipping or restoration. The order is accompanied by a double-layer steel suspension with an improvised stickpin and an old ribbon.
Short translation of the citation:
Comrade CHIKCHEEV has participated in military actions against the German fascist invaders from the very beginning of the Great Patriotic War. He took part in the battle actions for the defence of the cities of Odessa and Sevastopol as a rifleman in the 161st Rifle Regiment in the 95th Rifle Division on the South-Western Front.
On November 16, 1941, in the battle actions for the defence of Sevastopol, in the region of Radykovka, 1-2 km SW of the city of Sevastopol, comrade Chikcheev was heavily wounded in the left leg by a shrapnel and evacuated to the Field Hospital; he was later treated in different hospitals in the city of Sevastopol, in Baku, in Hospital #1273 in the city of Ashkhabad, and Hospital #5060 in the area of Firiuza, Ashkhabad Region. He underwent treatment in the hospitals for 11 months. As a result of being wounded, the knee joint and ankle joint of his left leg are non-functioning
Comrade Chikcheev has not been granted a government award.
For his active participation in the Great Patriotic War against the German fascist invaders and the acquired wound as a result of which comrade Chikcheev became an invalid of 3rd Category from the Great Patriotic War.
