Awarded to Guards Private Ivan Efimovich Dovzhenko (Иван Ефимович Довженко)

 

For street fighting in Berlin, where, under constant enemy fire, he carried out careful reconnaissance and identified two pillboxes, four heavy machine guns, and two light machine guns. On April 25, 1945, while blocking a building, he killed eleven German soldiers with his personal weapon

 

 

Made of solid silver and enamels, Measures 45.56 in width, 47.85 mm in height and weighs 21.6 grams without its suspension.

 

In worn condition with medium toning to the silver. The order shows strong wear to the raised areas like the Spasskaya Tower and several dings and scratches on both sides. The enamels are mostly present but show some chipping on the lower banner. Its connection ring has not been cut and the order comes with a double layer steel suspension.

 

Brief description of personal combat feat or merit:

Comrade DOVZHENKO, during street battles in the city of BERLIN, under continuous enemy fire, conducting careful surveillance of the enemy, discovered 2 pillboxes, 4 heavy and 2 light machine guns.
On April 25, 1945, while blocking one of the buildings, he killed 11 German soldiers with personal fire.

Worthy of the governmental award – order of the RED STAR. [later downgraded to an Order of Glory]
