Awarded to Senior Sergeant Fedor Stepanovich Meletidi (Федор Степанович Мелетиди)
For leading successful reconnaissance actions, capturing five Germans and killing three during a counterattack near Dobezhen, and later capturing sixteen more near Kostyanovo on 24 January 1945
Made of silver and enamels. Measures 47.08 mm in width, 49.19 mm in height and weighs 23.8 grams without its suspension.
This early order is in nice, about average condition. The enamels are very well preserved without repairs and show some dings and scratches only. The raised areas like the wreath and tower show medium wear. Its connection ring has been cut and the order comes with its time period double layer suspension.
Brief and specific description of the personal feat or merits:
In combat near the village of Dobezhen while repelling an enemy counterattack of infantry and tanks, Guards Senior Sergeant F.S. Meletide and a group of scouts captured five Germans, while he personally killed two German soldiers and one officer with his assigned firearm.
On 24 January 1945 near the village of Kostyanovo, with his reconnaissance squad captured a group of sixteen Germans.
He is deserving of the Order of Glory III Class.
