Awarded to Guards Lieutenant Georgiy Ivanovich Kazantsev (Георгий Иванович Казанцев)
For personally leading the crossing of his unit at the Opava river [Czechoslovakia] and fighting in the streets of Smolkov shortly after. Thanks to his ability to lead the battle and to his courage, 3 enemy counterattacks were repulsed
Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 51.65 mm in height, 49.91 mm in width and weighs 40.2 grams without screwplate. The serial number and the mint mark Monetni Dvor are located at the 6 o’clock position underneath the screw.
In nice overall condition with medium wear to the raised details and some of the original gilding on the pollaxes still present. The enamels are problem free without chipping or damage but show several dings and scratches. The screw has not been shortened and it comes with its time period screwplate.

“On April 20, 1945, while personally leading the crossing of his unit at the Opava river / Czechoslovakia / , Guards Lieutenant Kazantsev perfectly carried out this operation. Having crossed the river, the company moved forward with a fight and broke into the village of Smolkov, where it started street fighting. The enemy counterattacked comrade Kazantsev’s company three times, but thanks to his ability to lead the battle, his stamina and courage, the enemy’s counterattacks were repulsed with heavy losses for him.”
