Awarded to Major Grigory Makarovich Petrunin (Григорий Макарович Петрунин)
For outstanding courage and leadership during the fighting near Magersdorf, Austria, on April 6, 1945, where he organized and led the successful repulse of three fierce enemy counterattacks and was the first to break into enemy positions, personally killing three German soldiers
Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 51.23 mm in height, 50.35 mm in width and weighs 39.5 grams without its screwplate. The serial number and the mint mark Monetni Dvor are located at the 6 o’clock position underneath the screw.
In great condition with well preserved, problem free enamels with small contact marks only. There are few dings and scratches to the silver and even the raised areas like Nevsk’s face and the wreath show light wear only. The gold plating is mostly present and its screw has not been shortened. The order comes with its time period and well fitted screwplate.

On April 6, 1945, when fierce enemy counterattacks were being repelled near the village of Magersdorf (Austria), he was positioned directly among the ranks of the 2nd Rifle Company. As a result of his bold initiatives, personal valor, bravery, and the able way in which he arranged combat situations, the company was able to fight off 3 enemy counterattacks. Inspiring the men and the officers to bring the combat missions to a successful end, comrade Petrunin, upon putting together a group of soldiers, was the first to break into the enemy’s positions. He dislodged the enemy from his line of defense, at which time he personally killed 3 German soldiers.
Having actively participated in the Patriotic War from August 1941 onward, comrade Petrunin suffered 3 wounds.
For the bold initiatives, personal valor, bravery, and courage he displayed in battle and for having actively participated in the Patriotic War from August 1941 onward, comrade Petrunin deserves to be awarded the Order of the Red Star. [later upgraded to a Nevsky]
